課程要求
Requirements
Quizzes: These are quizzes at the beginning of class meant to make sure that students have studied course material, be they readings or video clips.
Participation: Students are required to come to class prepared to discuss the assigned material and actively participate in group discussion. Each group, consisting of 4-6 members, will try to provide in-depth answers to one of the week’s discussion questions. After class, students will have to fill out an online survey (in Google Forms, by Wednesday midnight) to rate the performance of all the group members.
Group Presentation: After discussion, each group will present its ideas for 5 minutes (and no more). A good presentation shall have a concise central idea with good oral delivery. All members will receive the same grade, four-fifths of which rest with the entire class. Students shall listen carefully to the presentations and mark fairly on the grading sheet.
Essays: Students will write three short essays during the semester. Writing prompts and guidelines will be distributed in advance. Students will have chances to get feedback in writing workshops and revise accordingly before final submission. NO late assignments will be accepted.
Individual Presentations: Each student will give THREE individual presentations, one in the beginning of the semester (Talk About Self), another roughly at mid-term (Show & Tell), and the other as the final presentation (Let Me Tell You a Story). Like group presentations, individual presentations will be graded by the whole class. Guidelines and grading rubrics will be provided in advance.
